Colour in Web Design – Red
Red is a powerful colour, commonly used in an intense bold format to communicate a number of emotions including anger, love and passion. It is said to enthuse and stimulate an action and can even cause your pulse rate to increase.
Red can be very effective when used with black, white and shades of grey and can be used to make certain areas of your page stand to attention. When used in high volume, a darker tone is best to use in order to maintain ease on the eye, whereas lighter tones can appear harsh and unappealing when used to fill large areas.
It’s also used to create a warm atmosphere, along with orange and yellow.
I have selected a list of 20 websites that utilise the colour red to outstanding effect, from subtle to high volume usage.
